Welcome back to the HuskyTHON Blog! To start we want to introduce ourselves, Liv and Belle. We are the Co-Directors of Campus Affairs for HuskyTHON 2027.
As the Co-Directors of Campus Affairs we are the people’s people of HuskyTHON. Our goal is to inform the general population of UConn about what HuskyTHON is and promote registration. We do a lot of outreach through emails into the community, as well as host general HuskyTHON meetings to deliver information. In addition, we have a table at every HuskyTHON event, spreading awareness and encouraging engagement. We give presentations to specific organizations on campus and create presentations for organizations to use on their own! Campus Affairs is truly a special position, and we are so lucky to spread our love for this organization to the greater community of UConn!
If this means nothing to you, let us break down HuskyTHON into simpler terms. There are tiers to this organization, because we are a student-run organization, we have a team of six members who serve as our Steering Board, they oversee all of the Management Team and help to plan and ensure the organization is on track and the community is cared for. The Steering Board consists of the Executive Director, and five Vice Presidents; Communications, Membership, Internal Relations, External Relations, and Finance. Under them are the Management Team, who specialize in specific areas under each VP, this is where we fall! Belle and I are on the Membership subteam.
Under the Management Team are our internal participants, these include our Morale team, Captains, Dancer Representatives, and HuskyTHON Rising Leaders. Our internal team works closest with the Management Team, and they help with the behind the scenes function of the organization and serve as liaisons between the Management Team and the greater community, which is about 4,800 participants.
External is the next tier and these are our participants who are a part of other organizations such as greek life, club sports, varsity sports, or academic clubs that have their own teams within HuskyTHON. External makes up a huge part of our fundraising and participation and are arguably one of the most important parts of HuskyTHON as a whole!
During Registration week, the Management and Internal teams table in the center of campus and explain what our organization does, and help people who want to learn about HuskyTHON join a team. We have a special program for first and second year participants called HuskyTHON Rising Leaders that have weekly meetings, get 1:1 mentoring, and have the opportunity to form great relationships within the organization. Because we are the largest student organization on campus, we work extra hard to make sure everyone in our organization feels like they have a place and a sense of belonging. We are all united under one cause, to help end childhood illness.
